Places to be this summer in Lima

Summer is here, and with it, we have places to explore outside in Lima. Here are some of the new and old places we can visit during this summer of love.

Ana, Cocina de Cambio – Miraflores

Let’s start with the Spice Girls of this list, Ana is great for lunch and dinner and perfect for cocktails. The restaurant is an “all patio” open space, with great distance and an excellent array of cocktails, all created and operated by women, girl power everywhere. So go for their cocktails with friends. The Andrea is a delicate cocktail on the nose with an intense aroma and explosive taste on your tongue or something fresh like the Gracie. Both cocktails with names inspired by influential women.

Lila Dasso – San Isidro

This is the Diva of the moment, located in the heart of San Isidro, Lila has a lovely front terrace and a large back patio which is ideal for any time of the day. Their menu has changed since their opening in the winter. Now they have breakfast with eggs benedict or waffles, new baked goods and desserts, lunchtime is excellent and not crowded,  the usual great coffee and their splendid Bar, for cocktails and refreshments.

SanaKitchen by La Sanahoria – Everywhere

The whole concept of the first all-natural store in Lima has evolved. Now, La Sanahoria is an organic market with 6 locations (San Miguel, Miraflores, San Isidro, La Molina and Barranco) and has a kitchen with places to sit outside or inside. It has all healthy and natural products with great flavors. They offer an array of great starters like the chocolate Banana Overnight Oats for breakfast. For lunch or dinner, they have salads, soups, and salads. Their Chicken Tacos are great for a complete meal. And their Salmon Toast is refreshing and not so heavy.

Bodega Verde – Barranco

Bodega Verde’s first location is really close to the Bridge of Sighs (Puente de los suspiros). It is an open space close to the heart of Barranco. They used to have a place inside of the Contemporary art Museum that had to move to the corner of San Martin and El Sol Ave. It’s a nice under-street patio with a simple yet delicious menu. You can have their banana Quinoa Pancakes for breakfast with honey and butter. Their Chicken Salad Sandwich will be perfect for a lunch break if you want a sandwich. And their Mixto with cheese and ham from Cajamarca is excellent. There’s also a vegan burger (made with corn) with hummus and sprouts, and if your thing is sharing, they have Champi-Papas, mushrooms, and cocktail potato stir fry to share with their all-natural drinks.

Neira Café Lab – All over the place

For me, Harry is like Biggie Smalls, a notorious significant presence in the coffee world. He has grown from a small cart outside miss cupcakes to 2 full fixed locations (one in Miraflores and another on San Isidro). So now the summer places on the beaches south of Lima, you can enjoy great coffee with some companions, sandwiches, croissants, cookies, and canelés. You can also get their specialty blends to prepare your own at home.

Mó – Miraflores

This is the acoustic version of a brunch. The Nature lover chef Matias Cilloniz, leads the kitchen at Mó- a place that keeps evolving. From his original location in Barranco, they moved to Miraflores at the Avenida Angamos and have created inviting open areas for all occasions, have work meetings on the second floor, or enjoy their brunch on a terrace. Their Egg Benedict is a great deal for breakfast. However, if you are looking for an evening treat, their chocolate chip ice cream sandwich is to die for!

El pan de la Chola – La Molina

The 10-year-old Pan de La Chola just opened a new location in La Molina. The same baked goods, sandwiches, coffee from Miraflores and San Isidro, and new location-specific desserts like their Algarrobina Cookie, are great places to go if you are in that part of Lima.

Location: 167 Santiago De Compostela St, La Molina 15026

Hours: Tue – Sunday 8am to 2pm

Burgerboy – Miraflores

If Harry is the Notorious BIG, you can only compare Miyasato with the Petshop Boys. He has several projects with great flavors (I believe that he is the champion of Umami). He always works with a group. In this project, he paired up with Luis Luyo and created the first (of hopefully many) burger joints under the name Burger Boy. The menu is simple: four burgers, all smashed burgers, 2 California all-American style and 2 with Asian inspired elements, they work with everything, vegetables (Z-40 burger is made of oyster mushrooms), to Gochujang sauce on the Buddha, the Double yessy with caramelized onions and an Asian packed sauce, or the OG classic smashed burger with cheddar.

The front patio is open to enjoy.

Location 411 Domingo Choquehuanca St. Miraflores

Hours Tue – Sun 12:00 to 23:00

As you see, there are a lot of options classic and new places to eat your way out and around  Lima this summer
